Bubbles face the water

The air-filled bubbles capture solar warmth and help insulate the surface of the water.

Smooth side faces up

The smooth surface faces the sun and open air while the bubbles stay in contact with the water.

Cover the full waterline

More complete coverage means less exposed water for heat and evaporation to escape from.

Trim for a clean fit

Let the blanket settle for one or two days, then trim gradually around the waterline.

Keep more heat in. Let less water escape.

A solar blanket floats directly on the water, capturing solar warmth during the day while slowing heat loss and evaporation when the pool is not in use.

Simple trim-to-fit installation

Measure the waterline. Let it settle. Trim in small passes.

Measure the water surface—not the outside pool wall. If you are between sizes, choose the larger blanket and let it float for one or two days before making the final cut.

Installation rule

Bubbles down. Smooth side up.

Once the material has relaxed, mark the waterline on the smooth side and trim gradually with clean scissors.

  • Keep the full water surface covered
  • For vinyl-lined pools, remove the blanket before cutting
  • Start large, then trim small amounts until the fit is right
Optional handling upgrade

Make daily removal and storage easier

A reel is optional, but it can make larger blankets—and heavier Diamond 14 mil material—faster to remove and neater to store.

Choose by pool type and span

These are two different systems, not one universal reel.

Solar cover questions, answered

Straight answers on sizing, installation, care and safe use.

Which side of the solar cover faces the water?

Place the bubble side down against the water. The smoother side faces up.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the longest and widest points of the pool and choose the closest listed size that fully covers the water. If you are between sizes, choose the larger option and trim it after the material has relaxed on the pool.

Can I trim the blanket myself?

Yes. Let the cover float on the pool first, then trim around the perimeter with clean scissors. Work gradually and leave a little extra material until you are satisfied with the fit.

Which material and colour should I choose?

Choose Gold 11 mil in Blue or Clear for balanced everyday performance. Choose Platinum 11 mil in Navy-Black when greater daytime heat absorption is the priority. Choose Diamond 14 mil in Blue for our thickest material and strongest heat retention and durability.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes. Custom sizing is available in CAD at $0.61 per sq. ft. for Gold, $0.65 per sq. ft. for Platinum and $0.75 per sq. ft. for Diamond. Contact us with your pool dimensions for availability and a final quote.

Do I need a reel?

No. A reel is optional, but it can make larger and heavier blankets quicker to remove and easier to store between swims.

Can I use a solar blanket with a pool heater?

Yes. The blanket does not replace the heater; it helps preserve more of the warmth already added to the water while the pool is not in use.

How should I clean and store the blanket?

Rinse it with water and use a soft brush for heavier buildup. When the blanket is off the pool, protect it from direct sunlight and sharp or abrasive surfaces. Let it dry before rolling or folding it, then store it in a shaded, protected area.

Can I leave it on all year?

No. Remove the blanket at the end of the swimming season and store it properly. A solar blanket is not a winter cover. It should also be removed before swimming and while super-chlorinating the pool.

Is a solar blanket a safety cover?

No. A solar blanket floats on the water for heat retention and evaporation control. It does not support weight and is not a substitute for supervision or a certified pool safety barrier.
