Choose the right solar blanket

Gold and Platinum are both 11 mil, but colour changes how they perform in the sun. Platinum’s darker Navy-Black finish absorbs more solar heat. Diamond is our thickest 14 mil option for maximum heat retention and durability.

Why cover the water

Keep more heat in and lose less water

Used consistently, a solar blanket helps preserve warmth, reduce evaporation, lower pool-care demands and extend the swimming season.

The basic idea

Cover the water whenever the pool is not in use. Remove the blanket before swimming.

01

Helps raise and maintain water temperature

The bubbles capture solar warmth while the cover helps preserve heat already in the water.

02

Reduces nighttime heat loss

The floating barrier helps slow the temperature drop caused by cooler night air and wind.

03

Slows evaporation and water loss

Less exposed water means less refilling and less chemical loss through evaporation.

04

Keeps debris out

Leaves, insects and light yard debris land on the blanket instead of directly in the pool.

How it works

A simple layer between your pool and the air

The bubbles face down and float directly on the water.

  • Cover as much of the water surface as possible
  • Let the blanket relax before making permanent cuts
  • Remove it before swimming and store it out of direct sun

No anchors, tools or permanent hardware required.

Solar cover questions, answered

Straight answers on sizing, installation, care and safe use.

Which side of the solar cover faces the water?

Place the bubble side down against the water. The smoother side faces up.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the longest and widest points of the pool and choose the closest listed size that fully covers the water. If you are between sizes, choose the larger option and trim it after the material has relaxed on the pool.

Can I trim the blanket myself?

Yes. Let the cover float on the pool first, then trim around the perimeter with clean scissors. Work gradually and leave a little extra material until you are satisfied with the fit.

Which material and colour should I choose?

Choose Gold 11 mil in Blue or Clear for balanced everyday performance. Choose Platinum 11 mil in Navy-Black when greater solar absorption is the priority. Choose Diamond 14 mil in Blue for maximum thickness, heat retention and durability.

Can I order a custom size?

Yes. Custom sizing is available in CAD at $0.61 per sq. ft. for Gold, $0.65 per sq. ft. for Platinum and $0.75 per sq. ft. for Diamond. Contact us with your pool dimensions for availability and a final quote.

Do I need a reel?

No. A reel is optional, but it can make larger and heavier blankets quicker to remove and easier to store between swims.

Can I use a solar blanket with a pool heater?

Yes. The blanket does not replace the heater; it helps preserve more of the warmth already added to the water while the pool is not in use.

How should I clean and store the blanket?

Rinse it with water and use a soft brush for heavier buildup. When the blanket is off the pool, keep it away from direct sunlight and sharp or abrasive surfaces. Let it dry before rolling or folding it for storage in a shaded, protected area.

Is a solar blanket a safety cover?

No. A solar blanket floats on the water for heat retention and evaporation control. It does not support weight and is not a substitute for supervision or a certified pool safety barrier.

A solar pool cover floats directly on the water to help raise and maintain temperature, reduce nighttime heat loss and slow evaporation. It also keeps leaves and light debris out between swims.

Choose Gold 11 mil in Blue or Clear for balanced everyday performance, Platinum 11 mil in Navy-Black for greater solar absorption, or Diamond 14 mil in Blue for maximum thickness and durability. Standard covers can be trimmed at home. Custom sizing is available by quote.

Safety: Remove the cover completely before swimming. A solar blanket is not a safety cover and cannot support weight.
